Il Mar Baltico: Storia ed Arte.- The Baltic Sea: History and Art.

It is not a long time that has passed since independence from the Soviet Union in 1993, and since then these three countries of the Baltic Sea: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have rebuilt their independence and their development. The three capital distils each country, nature and essence aesthetic and decadent aristocratic Vilnius, Riga lavish and excessive, romantically Nordic seafaring and Tallinn. But also other cities and other pathways can lead the traveler to discover the history and art of these three countries. Nature is the master on the Baltic and finally, after the dark years of subjugation before German and then Soviet, wild and great returns. Forests, wild animals are the real protagonists of these three countries.

Crossroads of diverse influences over the centuries, from the various occupants from time to time there have been on this soil, the Baltic States have developed a culture interwoven with elements Germans, Danes, Swedes, Poles and Russians. The majority of the most significant monuments is concentrated in the capital cities, which have strongly characterized by style and atmosphere, so close geographically as far apart for personality: The Mediovo Estonia, features its fortified cities, the type of the castle of Tallinn Iugendstil the Latvian, with the proud center of Riga, the oldest Lithuanian architecture that highlights the close relationship that existed between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and feudal Europe and the Balkans as early as the thirteenth century, the late Romanesque and Gothic, Baroque and finally the Lithuanian appears hallmark of Vilnius and Lithuania.
