Mosaico contemporaneo - contemporary mosaic

Fast forward a few centuries and, after many years of neglect, the technique of mosaic comes to life, with new artists and new energy. The mosaic has been considered in the art world, just a minor art, art itself becomes perhaps. Many artists create their works with the technique of drettamente moisaico rather than transforming "cartoons" of painters more or less famous mosaics. The Museum of Modern Art in Ravenna you can see various examples of mosaics that are performed by the translation of cartoon artists: Guttuso, Signorini, Capogrossi, etc. Baltus. just to name a few. Of these mosaics were not given the performers, the origin, but finally today the mosaic artist is also recognized as an artist. From the mosaic of the Byzantine style to contemporary mosaic, moving from revaluations of the '30s.

The authentic renewal of the mosaic is due to the fact that it has diminished the ancient distinction between the "pictor imaginarius" that drew up the figure and the "tessellarius" realized that, and this is due to the emergence of creators capable of carrying its imagery directly into the stone (or glass), and because the two types of artists have cogiunti in the creative moment: one who creates the figure has become inseparable from the one who gives life.
