L'artista è chi progetta la scultura o chi la realizza? The artist who designed the sculpture or who realizes it
Questo è un argomento che ho già trattato nel blog: oggi si può parlare di artista quando chi realizza l'opera è un'altra persona? In altri termini l'idea viene a me ma, visto che non sono capace di scolpire oppure non voglio farlo, perchè è faticoso, faccio realizzare l'opera da un laboratorio. Questo laboratorio realizza l'opera attraverso mano d'opera specializzata oppure utilizzando un robot. Chi è l'artista in questo caso chi ha l'idea, l'operaio oppure il robot? Non è facile rispondere.
Prendo spunto da un recente articolo apparso sul quotidiano toscano "Il Tirreno" intitolato: "Studi Michelangelo, la bimba del napalm diventa scultura". Gli studi Michelangelo sono a Carrara, città famosa perchè nel suo territorio sono ubicate le più famose cave di marmo del mondo. Il marmo bianco di Carrara è uno dei più prezioso per creare sculture. Michelangelo, Bernini, Canova hanno sempre utilizzato il marmo di Carrara per creare le loro sculture.
Nell'articolo citato viene scritto che negli studi Michelangelo di Carrara è stata realizzata la scultura che rappresenta la bambina vietnamita ustionata dal napalm, usato dagli aerei americani, nel 1972. Una foto di grande impatto, senza dubbio, scattata dal fotografo Christopher Wain.. La scultura ha come committente Francois Pinault, il re del lusso francese, e "l'autore è Abdel Abddessemed, algerino, lo stesso della celeberrima statua che immortala la testata di Zinedine Zidane a Marco Materazzi (anch'essa realizzata dagli studi Michelangelo)." La scultura è realizzata in avorio. Chi è lo scultore?
Nello stesso articolo viene detto, tra l'altro, che Pinault ha anche realizzato un grande centro espositivo a Punta della Dogana dove si trova l'opera "All" di Maurizio Cattelan, anch'essa realizzata dagli Studi Michelangelo. Chi è lo scultore?
Negli studi é stata realizzata una copia del "Dito mozzato" dello stesso autore, esposta a Milano, acquistata da un'importante galleria di New York (anche l'originale è stata realizzata dagli stessi studi). Si può parlare di opera d'arte per una copia di un'opera. Un'opera scolpita da operai specializzati, dipendenti di un laboratorio? Spesso vengono scolpite copie recenti della pietà di Michelangelo, anche recentemente è stata esposta una copia della Pietà nell' evento "Marble Week" a Carrara. Questa può essere definita un'opera d'arte. Può essere affermato che l'artista è Michelangelo. Non credo.
E così via, nello studio vengono anche realizzate sculture di Jan Van Oost, Vanessa Beecroft, Paul Mc Carthy, anche le loro sono realizzate da maestranze specializzate? Spero in una piccola presenza degli artisti, ogni tanto.
