Sulle Alpi Apuane (Massa Carrara) - Toscana , le cave di marmo da dove viene estratta la preziosa pietra sino dall'epoca dei romani, e forse anche da prima. Da allora è utilizzata per impieghi di ogni genere, da semplici oggetti ornamentali alle più famose opere d'arte e di architettura. I più grandi artisti, come Michelangelo o Bernini hanno utilizzato il marmo di Carrara per le loro sculture. Purtroppo oggi, anche grazie all'utilizzo di strumenti sofisticati (vedi foto sopra riprodotte) questo tesoro delle Apuane viene sempre di più utilizzato, non solo per opere d'arte o architettura ma bensì per scopi industriali, polverizzato. Le superbe montagne sono sempre di più ferite.
On the Apuan Alps (Massa Carrara) - Tuscany, the marble quarries from which the precious stone has been extracted since Roman times, and perhaps even earlier. Since then it has been used for all kinds of uses, from simple ornamental objects to the most famous works of art and architecture. The greatest artists, such as Michelangelo or Bernini have used Carrara marble for their sculptures. Unfortunately today, also thanks to the use of sophisticated tools (see photos reproduced above) this treasure of the Apuan Alps is increasingly used, not only for works of art or architecture but for industrial purposes, pulverized. The superb mountains are more and more wounded.
