I limoni

Ascoltami, i poeti laureati
si muovono soltanto fra le piante
dai nomi poco usati: bossi ligustri o acanti
Io, per me, amo le strade che riescono agli erbosi
fossi dove le pozzanghere
mezzo seccate agguantano i ragazzi
qualche sparuta anguilla:
le viuzze che seguono i ciglioni, 
discendono tra i ciuffi delle canne
e mettono negli orti, tra gli alberi dei limoni

Lemons

Listen to me, the poet laureate
only move between plants
whose names are rare: privet or boxwood acanthus
I, for myself, I love the roads that lead to grassy
ditches where the puddles
Clutching a half-dried boys
a few meager eel:
lanes which run along the embankments,
drop between the clumps of reeds
and the orchards, among the lemon trees
